With the spring season upon us, that means it is time to head outside for some softball! With a designated barbecue area, the up-and-coming left field student section, and FREE admission for students, the softball stadium is a high-energy, family-fun environment and the perfect study escape.
The Ole Miss Softball team returns for their home opener THIS WEEKEND! The lady Rebs hold a 6-2 record after just over a week of play. They began their season at the Sand Dollar Classic in Gulf Shores, Alabama and have just returned home from the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I know, such a rough life these ladies have been living.
While we all are having a little travel envy of the softball team, they have put in a lot of hard work between their relaxing off-days. With a walk-off winner against No. 3 Oregon and a hitting hot-streak against Texas, the Rebels have shown a solid mixture of experience to help educate and prepare the younger players.
The 2018 roster is loaded with key returning players including Elantra Cox, Kylan Becker, Alex Schneider, and Kaitlin Lee.
Every year, the softball team has a motto to they take on and strive for. This year it is: C.O.M.P.E.T.E. The acronym stands for Commitment, Outwork, Mental toughness, Passion, Effort, Trust the process, End in OKC.
The Rebels begin their 10-game home stretch with the Red and Blue Classic which begins February 23. The softball team will kick-off the Red and Blue Classic with a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 3:00 pm against SIUE followed by a 5:30 pm game against North Dakota State.
